Who was the first person who said: “Thank You, Hashem”? It was Yisro. He said Thank you Hashem for saving the Jews!
וַיֹּאמֶר יִתְרוֹ בָּרוּךְ ה’ אֲשֶׁר הִצִּיל אֶתְכֶם מִיַּד מִצְרַיִם וּמִיַּד פַּרְעֹה – ‘Yisro said, ‘Praised be G-d, who rescued you from the power of Egypt and Pharaoh.’ (Shemos 18:10)
The Gemara in Sanhedrin says: it’s a disgrace that until Yisro came around, the six hundred thousand yidden weren’t able to say ‘thank you, Hashem.’
Asks R’ Shlomo of Radomsk: Didn’t they say Shira? But it’s a huge difference. They said Shira – because Hashem saved them. But Yisro was the first person who said Baruch Hashem because Hashem saved others…
How much could you go out of your box and say praise to G-d for helping another person and when he is in a good place… 🔥
