One of the things that we always get stuck on when we read the Parsha of mitzrayim is the question ’what does it have to do with me?’
But when you start looking at mitzrayim as the concept of ‘meitzorim’ – things that restrict and constrict you, you realize that mitzrayim is a thought virus. There are certain thoughts that create a virus in our minds.
And when you realize that, mitzrayim becomes very alive. The thought virus of mitzrayim is וַיֹּאמֶר פַּרְעֹה מִי ה’ אֲשֶׁר אֶשְׁמַע בְּקֹלוֹ – when you start going into that world and you say ‘No, I’m the boss, I’m in control, I don’t know you, don’t start with me… then you find yourself in mitzrayim.
And then you start going into the world of makos… and you say ‘Oy Hashem, I have so many makos in my life! I promise you, you’re right, just let my people go… 🔥
