On Nittel, Jews would play chess. In 1937, the Lubavitcher Rebbe was sitting with his father-in-law, the Frierdiker Rebbe, and as the game was progressing, the Rebbe realized that he’s going to win the game. He didn’t want to win the game, so he made a bad move. The problem was that the Frierdiker Rebbe realized that he made that move on purpose,
He looked and his son-in-law the Rebbe and said ווען מען שפילט דארף מען שפילן מיט אן אמת – when you play, you gotta play with truth.” In order to win, you have to be ready to lose.
One of the greatest secrets of living the connected life is playing with truth and being able to take a loss in order to win the big game… ♟️
